‘How to I portray myself to my children?’

‘Do I inspire them?’

I strive to be a family that is grateful for all we have, and one that gives back to those around us.

Little things, like giving a tin or two each week to the food bank collection in the supermarket or being the family to offer help to a friend in need, can make a great impact on the way your children see the world. I hope by living our lives in a caring, positive way will in turn help to shape their character to be the same.

Sometimes people know just how to push your buttons. While letting those hurtful words or actions wash over you without hurt or pain is hard, it is normally the way to live a happier existence.

Throughout my life people have laughed at me, both to my face and behind my back, for being different. For embracing the things I love regardless of whether or not they are deemed ‘cool’.  It has taken me many years to let these comments wash over me, but now it’s them I feel sorry for not me. I would be so bored being the same as everyone else.

Sometimes all you can do is keep moving forward in the hope that things get easier.  Even in the darkest of days my belief in the power of positive thoughts have kept me going. I choose to be happy. It’s not always easy but deciding to be a positive person has been the best decision I’ve made in a very long time.
