Its that time of year again when all festival lovers start dreaming of sunshine and warm beer. Headliners and being announced from every angle, and my inbox is filled daily with emails from friends planning our summer’s activities.
As always, a staple of our festival calendar is Camp Bestival. Held at Lulworth Castle Dorset, July 27th-30th, this family friendly festival has been a mainstay of our summer for the past 5 years.
Camp Bestival 2017: Why You Should Be There
With a line-up including Madness, Lighting Seeds, Mark Ronson, Kate Nash and All Saints (YES! ALL SAINTS) there sure to be a fun-filled party atmosphere throughout the weekend.
For the grown-ups there is Reginald D Hunter, Gary Delaney and Kerry Godliman… however I think the fun really lies in the children’s comedy tent at Camp Bestival 2017.
This summer sees the launch of a new hit show Kidocracy, an interactive theatre show for children, presented by Keith Farnan (Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow) where the children are given an island to rule. In just under an hour, they must elect leaders, write anthems, come up with rules that rock and deal with all sorts of crises because running the world isn’t just all fun, fun, fun, there’s stuff to be done as well – this sounds AMAZING.
Hands down my highlight of Camp Bestival every year is the food.
Head to the WI Tent of the most affordable festival food you ever will find, and for a chilled our ‘pre-headliner’ dinner you’ll not be able to get enough of the DJ BBQ at The Feast Collective!
We have always opted for ‘normal’ camping while the girls were little as we wanted all our own stuff around us – however now they are older and more adept at the whole ‘festival’ thing, we are starting to consider other options for our stay.
The Boutique Campsite (bookable in advance in addition to your festival ticket) offers beautiful and luxurious camping options such as Tipis, Yurts, Squrts, Cloudhouses, Podpads, Bell Tents and Gypsy Bowtop Caravans. Or for luxury that doesn’t have to blow the budget then the Pitch Village offers affordable pre-pitched tents containing everything you need for the weekend – all you need to do is turn up and enjoy!
Each year there is a festival fancy dress theme – for Camp Bestival 2017 its the eclectically wonderful Pop Stars & Rock Stars.
Festival organiser Rob da Bank says: “Who hasn’t dreamed about busting a move like James Brown, getting into spandex like Kylie, glittering up like Ziggy Stardust or going a bit more sensible like Blur? Well, its time to get into the dressing up box, be a bit brave and get ready for Camp Bestival 2017… now where’s my meat dress?!”
So….what are you waiting for? Camp Bestival 2017 Tickets can be booked at campbestival.net/tickets – I promise you won’t be disappointed!
