Four Reasons You Must Visit Camber Sands

My internal compass is set to find the nearest beach.

It’s my happy place. Where I go to think, plan and just ‘be’.

The British coastline is often underrated, mainly due to the fact that good weather is never a guarantee. Yet I can think of no better way to spend a weekend than sneaking off after school on a Friday and being at the beach in time for a fish and chip dinner on the sand.

Camber Sands beach, set within village of Camber, near Rye in East Sussex is a real gem waiting to be discovered.  On the boarders of Kent and Sussex it’s within easy of London and the Home Counties, making it a perfect weekend break location.

Four Reasons You Must Visit Camber Sands

Stunning Beaches

Miles of sand, shells perfect for your collection and some beach front cafes for when you need to stop for a drink.  On a hot day you could easily mistake this for the Spanish coast.

We walked, talked and paddled for hours.  A beach like this is a true treat. It will have me coming back again and again.

Water Sports

The beach has become a popular location for kitesurfingKite landboarding and kite buggying due to its large expanses of sand and great wind conditions – check out The Kite Surf Centre for more info.

Camber Sands Dunes

There is something about sand dunes that, no matter your age, just scream out to be climbed. The view from the top of the Camber Sands Dunes is breath-taking, and the perfect way to build up your appetite for a beach front picnic.

We raced to the top and let girls lead the way.  They loved being adventures and pretending we were on a mountain expedition. Certainly blew away the last of the headache I had from the pervious nights clubhouse fun.

Low Cost Accommodation

There are many B&Bs, campsites and caravans park located nearby. We spent our week at the Park Resorts site situation adjacent to the beach and dunes.  A near perfect location, with plenty to do both on site and off.

If you are thinking of staying at Park Resorts Camber Sands then I’d say go for it. Our Caravan (a 2 bedroom ‘gold’ model) was clean, spacious and very well-kept. Being a gold caravan meant that it was located close to all of the main site attractions, great for being able to pop to the pool or park areas, however we could hear the band quite clearly from our bed on the evening we decided to head back before the entertainment finished. Our girls (aged 3 and 6) loved the park and play area, especially the go karts, and thanks to the good weather we spent a lot of time here.

Aside from being so close to such stunning beaches the other crowning glory of Park Resorts Camber Sands is, hands down, the swimming pool.  Comprising of 4 pools, a flume and rapids, it really impressed us.  The Park Resorts site itself is pretty basic and not the most visually attractive we have been too, however the pool area is the best we have used in all the camping and caravan sites we have stayed at in the UK.
