We have just returned from our first taste of family skiing with Madame Vacances – read on to find out how our stay at the Hotel Ibiza Les Deux Alpes went!
The Hotel Ibiza sells itself as 3-star accommodation, but from the moment the red carpet was laid out in reception for our arrival (ok, the carpet is there full time) I knew that Madame Vacances have been under-selling this recently renovated gem.
Hotel Ibiza Les Deux Alpes
From the outside Hotel Ibiza looks perfectly at home nestled within the picturesque French Alps, but once inside the vibe changes and Ibizan influences shine through.
Thanks to its elevated location most of the rooms at Hotel Ibiza Les Deux Alpes are south-facing with stunning views over the Ecrins National Park. This natural beauty was clearly at the forefront when last years renovations took place as each of these rooms come with full length windows and balconies offering guests the perfect location in which to fully appreciate this view. Our room, the duplex family suite, was a split level room with two bathrooms (one on each floor) and a mezzanine bedroom perfect for Mr L and me to retreat to once the girls has fallen asleep on the sofa bed in the lounge downstairs.
With us opting for afternoon only ski school for our trip family ski trip (I wasn’t quite sure if we could have got us all up, fed and to the sloes for 9am each day) we also wanted a hotel that could offer us more than ‘just skiing’. Hotel Ibiza was just what we needed.
For starters there is the indoor swimming pool (complete with spectacular mountain views) that is set within the downstairs entertainment area that also plays host to a games room, gym, spa with hot-tub, sauna & steam and conference area. Add to that the huge south-facing terrace, lively bar area (that regularly sees live bands and DJs) and a large selection of board games free for guests to use. They really had thought of everything. A stay at Hotel Ibiza Les Deux Alpes would also work really well for a multi-generation family ski holiday as there is plenty here to keep people occupied even when not on the slopes.
As parents of young children we were highly impressed with how well you are looked after here at Hotel Ibiza. The in-resort shuttle service was a lifesaver (little legs are just not made for walking in ski boots) and the staff here had such a lovely manner with the children we were put right at ease from the moment we arrived.
Our half board meal plan was perfect for what we needed. Full board is available (lunch is served at the partner restaurants on the slopes) but I much prefer the freedom to eat wherever I may find myself during the day, safe in the knowledge breakfast and dinner are always taken care of back at the hotel. The buffet style meals are served in their large restaurant (waiter service is viable for drinks in the evening) and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the food. Hot, fresh and tasty, with plenty of options for me as a vegetarian. If they happen to be cooking the Raclette during you stay be sure to try it – delicious!
The big test is whether or not we would go back – and the answer is a very firm YES! We are already planning a group trip back next season.
Thanks to Hotel Ibiza Les Deux Alpes for having us! You gave us a holiday to remember!
