Make a list

The best approach to packing for any holiday is to make a proper packing list and stick to it. Start by writing down the activities that you are planning to do while you are away. Next, note down what clothes and accessories you need for each activity. Doing this ensures that you will not forget anything.

I also have lots of different Pinterest boards full of packing ideas from what I must pack for my camping trips to what I may need for dream Hawaii and Cuba holidays.

Mix and match

Try to pack items of clothing and accessories that can be worn together. Doing this enables you to put together many different outfits using just a few clothes. If you like dresses, buying the type that can be worn in several different ways is a good way to save space in your suitcase, and provide yourself with plenty of outfit options.

Be ready for changeable weather

Hopefully, you will enjoy plenty of sunshine, but you need to be realistic and be prepared for the colder weather as well. Packing a light coat, closed in shoes and a jumper ensures that you can still get out and about, even if it is raining.

You do not need much

An awful lot of us return home with several unworn outfits in our cases. At the start of every winter, charity shops are inundated with summer clothes that people have not worn.I f you are planning to spend most of your days on the beach or sitting around the pool you only really need to pack some nice beachwear and a couple of outfits for the evening. Packing any more clothes than this is just a waste of time and money.

If you are packing for a colder climate then wearing the bulkier of your items, such as a ski jacket, to the airport will save on luggage space.

A good bag

An important item that many people forget to take with them is a really good bag! If you are going to spend time on the beach, make sure that it is big enough to accommodate a towel and suncream. An internal zipped pocket is also good for somewhere safe to keep your phone, keys and money while you are on the beach.

Its also a good idea to have this bag double us as your cabin luggage – so be sure to double check the dimension restrictions on that before purchasing anything.
